Thursday, 9:30 AM - “Georgia” was a sweet mini-Boxer mix that was picked up stray on September 27, 2017. The officers found a microchip, but the owner on the registration said she had given the poor girl away a while ago. They said they'd tell the new owner to come claim her.

By October 5, nobody had come. I took her out for a photo session with several other dogs. I always like photographing the white dogs. I always get a higher number of sharp shots since their bright coats allow for a bit of a quicker shutter speed.

Sweet Georgia sat in the shelter unclaimed for the 10-day hold period, but was adopted by Laura into a loving family on October 9, 2017!

Thursday, 9:36 AM – “Pepper” the Pointer mix was turned in stray by a citizen on October 2, 2017. She had on a bright orange collar, but no tag or microchip to locate her owner.

She went out for a photo session on October 5 when her hold time passed and no owner had come forward.

She was heartworm negative and interacted well with other dogs in the shelter. She was a little shy during her photoshoot, but looked quite loving in the warm glow of the rising sun.

“Pepper” was in the shelter a week and was finally adopted by Kristen on October 9, 2017!

Thursday, 9:16 AM – “Cassie” was no starving stray, so it was a bit unbelievable that no owner came forward to claim her.

This chunky gal was picked up stray by a Walton County Animal Control Officer on October 3, 2017. She had on a red collar but had no microchip or tag. Poor girl tested heartworm positive.

I was in the midst of doing photoshoots of several other dogs when a trustee brought “Cassie” out for a walk. Taking advantage of the opportunity, I turned my lens and fired off a few shots.

She sat for a dangerously long period of time, but was finally rescued on October 14 by Burlington County Animal Alliance of New Jersey. She was sponsored by several generous donations to the rescue from Alice, Cindy, Heidi, Barbara, Heather, Lane, Kristi and Amy.

Waltonpets Furtography Session: Dunn

Thursday, 9:25 AM - This old boy was picked up on Rabbit Run in Walton County on October 2, 2017. He had such character in his face: his eyes, cheek bones and muzzle highlighted by wisened, gray growth. Being somewhat thin and having a rough coat, I feared he might be heartworm positive. But thank God, the test showed he was negative!

“Dunn” stayed in the shelter a week and was finally rescued on October 9 by Labrador Friends of the South! His rescue was sponsored by generous donations from Lorraine, Lane, and Eileen!

Waltonpets Furtography Session: Buddy

Wednesday, 9:52 AM - “Buddy” was impounded by Walton County Animal Control on September 27, 2017. He, along with three other dogs were reportedly abandoned by their owner who moved off and left them behind. The officers posted the property, but when no owner responded, the dogs were picked up. The other three, being smaller dogs and younger puppies, were all rescued quickly. But poor Buddy sat around a little while longer.

The shelter had been getting bombarded with impounds, so it was nearly a week before “Buddy” got his opportunity for glamour shots. Being a calmer dog, his session went quite well and quickly. I managed a cute head tilt for a couple of photos by panting like a dog (glad nobody is watching me during the photo sessions!).

He was about 9 months old and just about 45 pounds. He was quite calm for a younger pup and was quite affectionate and playful. He also had fun playing in the outdoor interaction pens with a couple of other dogs.

“Buddy” was photographed for the Walton County Animal Control shelter on October 4, 2017 and put on the shelter’s adoption website, www.waltonpets.net. He was rescued on October 5, 2017 by Washington Wilkes DAWGS rescue and sponsored by donations from Alice, Lane and Barbara!

Waltonpets Furtography Session: Freckles

Thursday, 9:31 AM – “Freckles” was surrendered to the Walton County Animal Control shelter on October 2nd when his owner’s landlord said, “It’s you or the dog. Someone has to leave!”

His owner said he was housebroken and loved to fetch and play.

He had a photo session on October 4, and was rescued two days later!

Wednesday, 9:47 AM - “Harley” was surrendered by his owner on September 29, 2017. He was a spunky, medium-sized hound mix.

He was so happy to get outside for a photo session on October 4 and was rescued the following day by Burlington County Animal Alliance of New Jersey! Alice and Eileen generously sponsored Harley by donating to BCAA!

Wednesday, 9:59 AM – “Frankie” was picked up stray by a Walton County Animal Control officer on September 27, 2017. He got a quick photo session on October 4. The light was so low, and his coat so dark, that very few low-noise photos turned out.

He was rescued on October 4, 2017 by Two Tailz rescue! It turns out that he had been a foster of theirs in the past.
